In many cities across this nation or around the world there is something unique and specific to that place. So much so that they are know by the uniqueness. Maybe it’s a festival, or a landmark, or the birthplace of a famous person, it could be a host of various things. In many conversations with folks I have often said that my hearts desire is to see our Community become a Community of Faith. People will look at me strange when I make such a statement. I’d like to explain very briefly what I mean.
Regardless of the worlds various ethnicities, religions, sects, denominations, cults, divisions, just almost anyway you can possibly be divided into a “specialist” group of people good or bad, Jesus speaks of only two groups. Unbelievable! It seems everywhere I go or most anyone I talk to today seriously believes its a waste of time and there really isn’t any good left in the world to talk about. The secular world has so depressed the people of the world that they are now starting to really believe they are not important, nothing special, and my favorite “I can’t change anything anyway”!
WHAT! With an attitude like that, you are absolutely right!
For most of my life, (i have had a great life and great family) but for whatever reason, I have never really thought I could do very much. Yep, I began to believe the world about me. Now I know there are many of you who are thinking the SAME THING! You are asking yourself the question…
There doesn’t really seem to be anything special about me…
I don’t really have any gifts…
There really isn’t very much I can give…
I am inadequate to do much of anything…
1 Corinthians 1:27 tells us straight up that God uses the foolish things and the weak things, to change the world! That is me and you!
NOT ANYMORE! Jesus desperately wants you to know that you are GR8! (GREAT) You have been empowered with the gift of choice…choose Jesus and don’t look back! Luke 9:62
God DESPERATELY desires to know you! No, God is not desperate, but He’s desperate for you. There has never been nor will there ever be a greater act to exemplify how GR8 you are than that of the sacrificial gift of Jesus, John 3:16. If you weren’t GR8 I seriously doubt God would have cared enough to depart company with His son for a bunch of dead beats!
WE ARE GREAT! We need some help, yes, but that still doesn’t negate the fact that we are great. Our help comes from the Holy Spirit, John 16:13. Let’s not toy with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, any longer by giving into the depression of the world. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit with an attitude of worthlessness! You are great! Sacrifices have been made for You!
“But I am different”, GR8! So was Jesus, now put on your big girl and boy britches and realize the greatness God sees in you! You are empowered to change the world one relationship at a time! Don’t wait on me! Go do it!
