Quick note to Crossover!

Just a quick note to my church, Crossover…

1. I am so proud of your commitment to getting on your face before God in humility, fasting, and prayer! Many of you joined us Saturday for a day of fasting and prayer and I am completely encouraged by your realization not only of the urgency that we seek God with our heart and soul, but that we remain a humble people before the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! 2 Chronicles 7:14 Matthew 22:37

2. I am totally pumped about the fact that each of you continue to battle the traditional suppression of God’s people. What do I mean? I mean that you are leading the charge in our community to tear down walls, move beyond the divisiveness of denomination, and cross the barriers of race and separation. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a firm believer of one God, one People, one Church! Many will say today that this is what they believe. However they fail to live their belief! You however embrace, support, and live out, these values not only on Sunday, but in your daily lives! That is Kingdom stuff right there! It is the Fruit your resistance cannot deny! Ephesians 4:1-6

3. I want to encourage you to be Bold in Risk for Jesus in the impossible! To date many of us have simply trusted God for the Possible now is the time for you to trust Him for the Impossible! Focus on the Fruit! Press thru the resistance! Spend time with Jesus! The Holy Spirit is alive and breathing thru you! Move in His presence and follow His calling! About 14 months ago the Holy Spirit lodged in me a number of 1,000 people. I cast that vision to you that we reach 1,000 people for the kingdom!

4. Finally, it is an honor and privilege to be your Pastor! I love you all! I love the Church! Remember, we ain’t seen nothing yet! Nothing is impossible! Why? Because we serve together an omnipotent(the agency or force of unlimited power) God!

The Response

Crossover Church in Johnsonville invites you to participate with millions of citizens of the United States in a day of prayer and fasting for our country.  You may already know that Texas Governor Rick Perry issued a proclamation on June 6 calling on Texans to join together in prayer and fasting for the nation.  He invited the nations other 49 governors to do the same, appealing to people to seek God’s provision for our country.

In response to Perry’s call for prayer, Christian leaders from across the country have begun organizing a Christian themed prayer service that will last from 10:00am until 5:00 pm in Houston on August 6, 2011.  The website www.theresponseusa.com has been established where you can attend that particular event on the web.  You can also visit that website to see all of the events planned and pastors and other Christian leaders who have endorsed the event.  You will recognize many of them including Dr Ed Young of Second Baptist Church in Houston, Kerry Shook Senior Pastor of Woodlands Church in The Woodlands, Texas, Dr Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio Texas and many others.

Governor Perry said, “Given the trials that have beset our country and world – from the global economic downturn to natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and wars that endanger our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and theaters of conflict around the globe, and the decline of our culture in the context of the demise of families – it seems imperative that the people of our nation should once again join together for a solemn day of prayer and fasting on behalf of our troubled nation.

In times of trouble, even those who have been granted power by the people must turn to God in humility for wisdom, mercy and direction. In the spirit of the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, Verses 15-16, I urge a solemn gathering of prayer and fasting. As those verses admonish: “15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly… 16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly…” As Jesus prayed publicly for the benefit of others in John 11:41-42, so should we express our faith in this way.”

 What can you do?

  1. Lead your church or organization on August 6th in the national day of prayer and fasting
  2. Organize prayer times at your church during normal meal time hours
  3. Teach your members about what God’s word says about fasting and prayer
  4. Pray for Governor Perry as he has taken a stand for God and country and he is currently taking a lot of heat for that.

If you want to partner with another church, Crossover will be having prayer services on August 6th at the following times:

8:00-9:00 am

12:00-1:00 pm

6:00-7:00 pm (This time slot will also have music and singing).

This is an immensely important time for our country.  Please strongly consider participating. As God said in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.  This is the time to do that.

 Yours in Christ,

Chris Marsh, Senior Pastor
